CM Connect Conference 2016 Series: Stop Comparing, Start Connecting
I'm blessed to be attending the CM Connect 2016 Conference as part of the blogging team this week. All week long I'll be posting my thoughts on breakouts and main sessions for those of you who were unable to make it to the conference this year.
Our first main session was last night, and I'm already feeling excited and inspired by all of the incredible Children's pastors, directors and volunteers who are here. Children's ministry leaders can be a very diverse bunch of people, which brings me to my main takeaway from last night's main session and the after party we had at a local restaurant in town.
We need to stop comparing, and start connecting.
It's easy to start comparing yourself to anyone who is in the same line of work or ministry. However, as I looked around the room last night, I saw male and female, young and old, full-time pastors and volunteers, leaders who had been in ministry for only four weeks and leaders who had been doing children's ministry for forty-five years, some who had been to Bible college and some who had not... you get the point. None of those difference seemed to matter as we laughed and shared stories about our ministries over some rolls and pie. We are all so different, but we have the same main goal in our ministries:
We want to see kids come to know Jesus as their Savior.
My challenge to all of us is to stop comparing ourselves and start connecting with other amazing leaders. We can gain so much through connecting with other children's ministry leaders at a conference like CM Connect, on the internet, or even in our local areas. We all need people who will celebrate our wins in ministry, and sympathize with our struggles. What are you waiting for? Get out there, and start connecting with other leaders today!
What are you doing right now to connect with others who share your love for ministering to kids?
